Education is one of the reasons people choose to make their home in Platte County.  After all, Platte County school districts are regularly recognized by the state, and nationally, for their exemplary performance and for putting kids first.

Platte County not only offers quality pre-K through high school institutions, we are also home to several colleges and a university—bringing our educational options full circle.

The proof of Platte County’s educational excellence is in the numbers:

• Platte County high schools have a higher graduation rate than all of Missouri and the nation…and in addition, we have more 4-year college graduates per capita.
• Platte County is one of very few counties in Missouri with all school districts receiving perfect accreditation scores and the highest possible rating: “Accredited with Distinction.”
• Platte County has consistently ranked in the top 5 counties in Missouri in the Kids Count rankings over the past 10 years.

Higher Education

Several excellent higher educations are in or near Platte County, including community colleges, universities, university extensions, and on-line opportunities.

In Platte County:

Park University offers accredited online, undergraduate, and graduate degrees at campuses and military bases nationwide. Park University’s home campus is located on the bluffs above Parkville, MO.

University of Missouri-Kansas City has an extension office located in the Platte County Resource Center.  This extension location offers many classes and programs to residents in the Northland.

University of Phoenix has a campus location in Platte County and offers classes to achieve associates, bachelors, graduate and doctorate degrees.

Grantham University located to their Zona Rosa location after Hurricane Katrina hit their campus in Louisiana.  Grantham offers online education to obtain associates, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.

Near Platte County:

Maple Woods is part of the Metropolitan Community Colleges (MCC) and though located right outside Platte County lines has played an important role in workforce education.  Maple Woods offers job training and classes to achieve an associates degree both online and in the classroom.

Business & Technology Institute, like Maple Woods, is part of the MCC and on the other side of county lines.  The Business and Technology Institute has also played a direct role in workforce training and education and has been working with area businesses for more than 25 years.
